Not far from the mosque, besides the main road nearby Sungai (river of) Pengkalan Datu there exist this wooden building. Melihat saiz dan ukirannya yang begitu teliti tidak mustahil ia sebuah istana. Looking at its size and very delicate carvings it's not impossible that it is a palace. Malah itulah yang terbetik di fikiran sebaik sahaja melihatnya. Ini mesti sebuah istana lama... In fact it is that which came across the mind immediately after looking at it. This must be an old palace... Sebenarnya ia sebuah restoran masakan Melayu. Actually it is a restaurant for Malay cuisine. Mungkin ia adalah restoran yang diubahsuai dari sebuah istana lama? Maybe it is a restaurant which was converted from an old palace? Beberapa bulan kemudian di Pahang saya terjumpa pemilik restoran yang juga merupakan seorang tukang kayu dan pengukir. Katanya restoran ini dibina menggunakan kayu dari 100 buah rumah tradisional Melayu lama... A few months later in Pahang I came across the restaurant owner who also turned out to be a carpenter and a woodcarver.
